Tones

When playing this is jazz guitar I was very impressed at how well it sounds. It’s the perfect instrument to get all sorts of jazz sounds. You can play the big band sounds of the 40s and 50s, as well as modern sounding. This is also the perfect guitar for blues, country, rock, and many other styles because it sounds very nice. You can create a wide range of sounds with this guitar. The music that you play will sound amazing and the guitar is well built which makes it an amazing value. The F-holes on the guitar help to enhance the tones that you can produce with it. The sound is very smooth and all the notes ring out when you play.

Playability

The guitar is very easy to play and it has a smooth and fast neck. Many other Jazz guitars are cumbersome to play but this one is very nice. The higher frets on the guitar are easy to play thanks to a good neck joint. Many other Jazz guitars are harder to play because of the neck joint. The neck joint is a neck through body design so access to the higher frets is easier when you slide up the neck. This means that this jazz guitar is well-suited for lead guitar as well as rhythm guitar. Most players will find that this guitar is an excellent instrument. This is one of the better jazz-style guitars I have ever played. The one drawback the guitar has is that the body is a little large which makes it cumbersome for some players. If you spend a little bit of time with the guitar, I’m sure you will find it easier to play as you move forward.

Hardware

This Sheraton Pro II has excellent hardware. The guitar has two tone controls, two volume knobs, two Probucker Epiphone pickups. The Probucker pickups feature coil splitting. You control them with the pickup selector. This means that the guitar can produce both single coils as well as humbucking sounds. The Probucker pickups that ship with this guitar have received high marks by players. The pickups produce great tones that other guitars can’t produce. To use the coil splitting, you push the tone pot up and to turn it off, you push it back down. it’s a simple system to get used to and it gives you a broader range of tones to work with.

The instrument also has a Tune-O-Matic bridge which stabilizes the tuning. The tuning machines are Grover which is excellent as they enhance the tuning of the guitar. the hardware on the guitar is gold colored which gives it an attractive look. Graphtech NuBone XL nut to stabilize the stings and it helps keep them in tune.

Epiphone Sheraton II Pro Review - Neck
Neck

You get great value when you buy the Epiphone Sheraton II Pro. the instrument is an exceptional buy at this price thanks to the many extras that it has. I didn’t find a whole lot that was wrong with the guitar as it played well right out of the box. Epiphone has packed a lot of value into this guitar and it’s going to be one that you’ll want to play for a long time to come. This guitar gets full value ratings because you can’t get much better at this price. If you want a solid jazz style guitar, this is the one that you’re going to want to buy.

Build and Finish

One thing you will notice about this instrument is that it’s built well. It has a laminated maple neck and a laminated maple body. The neck is hard maple and walnut. The woods help bring out the natural tone of the instrument. The finishes include vintage sunburst, ebony, natural, wine red, and midnight sapphire. The finish itself is nice and smooth and I didn’t notice any imperfections in it. For a guitar in this price range, it’s designed quite well. I didn’t have any problems with the build of the instrument. All the electronics are solid and put together with care. You will enjoy the look of this guitar as much as I do.

Feel and Action

This instrument has a very nice feel to it. The guitar has a smooth and responsive neck. Your fingers will move up and down the fretboard with ease as you play. The double cutaway features make it easy to hit the upper register so soloing is easy on the guitar. It had great action right out of the box so adjustments won’t be necessary. Some players may want to adjust the guitar a little to suit their individual playing style. You will get 10 gauge strings when you buy so you may want to change these to a lighter gauge for easier playing.

Overall Sound

This instrument has a loud and robust sound that explodes out at you. It has F-holes so there is both an electric as well as acoustic sound produced. Chords sound nice and shimmering while you were playing them and all the notes will ring out clear. Solos and lead lines also sound great when playing them on this instrument. For jazz and blues music that uses a lot of cleaner tones, the sound of this instrument is exceptional. The guitar works best with minimal distortion. You will want to buy a good amplifier to go along with it as this will enhance the tone.

Who is the Epiphone Sheraton II Pro Guitar Suited For?

This guitar should is an intermediate to an advanced guitar. It is well suited to the guitarist that have a couple of years of experience behind them. While beginners can still use this instrument, they might struggle on the inside. The guitar is large and some players may find it a bit cumbersome to play. An adult will have an easier time playing but a younger student might struggle a bit due to the size. The guitar is perfect for those that like jazz, blues, country, and other forms of music. The guitar is not the right choice for hard rock or metal as it’s not designed for those styles. I would like for another guitar if you want to play heavier music as you won’t get the sound that you want out of it.

Epiphone Sheraton II Pro Review: Conclusion

This ends my Epiphone Sheraton II Pro review. Epiphone has created an excellent jazz style guitar here with a classical style and look to it. It sounds amazing and you would be hard-pressed to find a better instrument in this price range. It’s the perfect instrument for an intermediate or an advanced guitar player. Beginners might struggle a little bit with this guitar. It’s larger than normal as it’s difficult to play for beginners. It has everything you could want in a mid-range jazz guitar and you’re going to have a lot of fun playing it. I give this guitar top marks and it is one of the better Epiphone guitars that you can buy.

  1. I agree with your review wholeheartedly! I think much rock and roll has been played on Sheraton’s so there I differ with you there. Mine is a 2016 and is one of the last years for the rosewood fingerboard. I do prefer this to the pau Ferro ones they use now. Ebony would be nice too. But as much as I wanted to trade this for a Casino, I cannot give up the sounds of my Sheraton all pro! Great guitar forever!

  2. I had a 1997 Sheraton ll. I had a lot of trouble with it. Mostly tuning. Found it quite heavy. But overall it was a nice looking guitar and had decent sounds.
