Guitar Concepts, Volume 1: Scale Mastery
Learning how to play guitar scales is integral to becoming a good guitarist. Regardless of what style you play, having an intimate knowledge of the fingerboard and what notes are available to you over a given chord or progression is one of the more important things you need to know.
The problem is, most books and DVDs on the market today don’t actually teach you how to learn scales. They teach you the scale notes and then show you large pictures of every note in that scale/mode on the fingerboard, but not how to actually internalize the scale to the point where you don’t really have to think about the notes; to be able to simply play them when you want to.
Because of the lack of effective learning materials out there I decided to start my own eBook series in an effort to assist my fellow guitarists in discovering the essence of learning how to play the instrument. In this first volume — Scale Mastery — I teach you a simple yet effective method for learning any guitar scale you want.
I said simple, not easy.
This is not a quick fix magic pill. What this is, is a system; a guidebook if you will. Through a series of lessons/steps I guide you from first being introduced to the scale to ultimately having the ability to improvise over a given chord progression using the scale the way you want to, according to your personal playing style. Each step is designed to build upon the previous steps, building up your chops and your ear as you go along.
How do I do this? Well, ultimately you’ll have to buy the book to find out, but the short answer is that scales are not just about scales, they are about the relationships of notes to one another. You simply can’t master a scale sound by playing them up and down the neck a million times; for 99.9% of the guitar playing population that doesn’t work. It certainly didn’t for me, and that lead me to writing Scale Mastery.
Practice my system and I guarantee you will drastically improve your ability to not only learn scales, but also create an internal catalog of sounds to pull from whenever you want as you play.
What Is Included
The eBook, of course. Jam packed with notation and tab, as well as instructions on how to approach each step and some things to think about as you practice and play. In addition, I have included a few original audio backing tracks for you to play over. This will help you get the sound of what you’re learning in your head.
How Much Is It?
Scale Mastery is being sold for $10.00 USD. A bargain, really, if you consider how much books and DVDs go for these days.
