Learning how to play guitar scales is integral to becoming a good guitarist. Regardless of what style you play, having an intimate knowledge of the fingerboard and what notes are available to you over a given chord or progression is one of the more important things you need to know.

The problem is, most books and DVDs on the market today don’t actually teach you how to learn scales. They teach you the scale notes and then show you large pictures of every note in that scale/mode on the fingerboard, but not how to actually internalize the scale to the point where you don’t really have to think about the notes; to be able to simply play them when you want to.
