<description>Great article Josh. I studied music theory for a few years, and they drum that ascending, and decending melodic minor, I have never found a credible use ouside the are of classical music. Do you know of any jazz examples???

Also..
I derived my own fingerings, which is to play the major scale with a lowered 3rd. I found if you use Jimmy&#039;s fingerings for the 5 shapes the only fingering you have to change is on the string that contains the tonic. Then you have to play 4 notes per string.
Example.
7,1,2,b3rd. on one string.

position 7 this occurs on the 1st and 6th string
position 2 on the 3rd string
position 3 on the 2nd string
position 5 on the 5th string
position 6 on the 3rd string.

Using those fingerings got me ready to tackle the diminshed PC as well, which uses those same type 4 notes per fret fingering.

I find your fingerings facinating, and will beging incorporating in my practice routine as well.

Thanks for posting.</description>
